Dr Pierre-Jean Alet leads the Digital Energy Solutions group at CSEM, a Swiss technology innovation centre. Dr Alet's team of twelve researchers and engineers creates AI systems to secure the energy transition. Dr Alet started his career in photovoltaics in 2005 by conducting pioneering research on nanostructured devices at France's CEA and Ecole Polytechnique. After a stint as technology scout and senior researcher at Sharp Corporation, he joined CSEM in 2013 to initiate R&D activities on PV systems and their integration in energy systems. Dr Alet holds masters of science in engineering and in physics, a PhD in physics from Ecole Polytechnique, and an Executive MBA from the University of Zurich. He is a senior member of IEEE.
